Development Description
6. The developer shall comply with the following archaeological requirements of the Planning Authority; a) The developer shall retain a suitably qualified archaeologist who shall undertake licensed archaeological monitoring of all ground works. The developer's archaeologist shall forward their method statement for monitoring for written agreement of the Planning Authority in advance. b) In the event of in situ archaeological features being located in the course of the monitoring, the developer shall facilitate the archaeologist in fully recording such features, including all post-1700 AD in situ features and layers. At a minimum recording of all archaeological features shall include a written, photographic, and drawn survey record. c) Should significant archaeological material be encountered during monitoring, the developer should notify the Planning Authority immediately and consult with the City Archaeologist and the National Monuments Service to determine an appropriate archaeological mitigation strategy. d) A report containing the results of the archaeological monitoring shall be forwarded on completion to the Planning Authority and the National Monuments Service, Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage. Reason: In the interest if preserving or preserving by record archaeological material likely to be damaged or destroyed in the course of development.
