Development Description
Conservation The following requirements of the Planning Authority’s Conservation Section shall be fully complied with in the proposed development: a) A conservation expert with proven and appropriate expertise shall be employed to design, manage, monitor and implement the works to the structure and to ensure adequate protection of the retained and historic fabric during the works. In this regard, all permitted works shall be designed to cause minimum interference to the retained building and facades structure and/or fabric. b) In order to protect the original fabric, character and integrity of the industrial heritage of the site and Grand Canal red hatch conservation area and to ensure that the proposed works are carried out in accordance with best conservation practice, prior to the commencement of the development, the applicant shall submit revised drawings and method statements to retain and conserve a greater amount of historic boundary wall to the north where possible. c) Following removal of fill material, and prior to further work, the applicant shall provide a salvage strategy for the labelling, lifting, storing and reuse of the historic stones within the landscaping, or if this is not possible, to provide some clarity on where they can be reused elsewhere in the city. The Conservation Officer shall be offered an opportunity to inspect the site following removal of the fill to all of the filter beds to assess their condition and to provide support towards their appropriate reuse.
