Development Description
Permission for the redevelopment of the former bank at No. 71 South Mall, Cork City, T12HC79. The proposed development will consist of the change of use from a bank to a 58-bedroom hotel with ground floor bar/restaurant/cafe; the demolition of the extant roof structure and upper floor of the four-storey main bank building fronting South Mall and the construction of 2 no. additional storeys, setback from the street elevation over South Mall to form a five-storey building, plus screened rooftop plant area; the demolition of the auxillary buildings to the rear of the main bank building fronting Morgan Street and the construction of a six-storey building plus screened rooftop plant area; the construction of a glazed link bridge over five floors across an open atrium; and the provision of an accessible roof deck fronting South Mall. The proposal provides for preservation and repair of the extant limestone elevation to South Mall and the main banking all. The proposed development makes provision for a customer entrance and service entrance on Morgan Street incorporating public realm improvements, ancillary signage (including illuminated signage) and all associated site development works.
